MSB Trading 2021 - paradigm shift, page-1295

Shorting is an interesting beast - I was thinking about it in the context of a recent large IPO for a shoe manufacturer who shall remain nameless - private equity took it public on a 10x return for them over 7 years with margins that look like double that of the rest of the shoe market, an interesting bump in sales over Covid despite the fact that no one was going anywhere that a fashion shoe would be needed - oh and in 2003 it was very close to bankruptcy apparently. Situations like that could be construed as one in which deploying a short sale strategy could be used to keep a lid on the market and drive a stock closer toward fair value.
