Hey guys, I’ve been published in medical journals and have experienced the headache that is peer review. It’s not a matter of simply submitting. It then takes time for peer review, and that is subject to the efficiency or tardiness of the person performing the peer review. Then any amendments must be made and agreed upon by coauthors and the manuscript resubmitted. It then undergoes a second peer review to see if issues raised from the first have been appropriately addressed. Depending on when Dr Perin submitted the manuscript, even if it was ultimately accepted for publication, it could take up to six months from the date of original submission. I would say that peer review and revisions are probably the least exciting and tedious parts of research and having something published. Just putting it out there so people don’t hang on the edge of their seats for it.
