I'm waiting for the global narrative to change soon and vaccination (because that can't go away now) be coupled with herd immunity as the only way out, with special assistance for the elderly and immune compromised. This is based on the current known variants.
Economically, the lock-downs were a massive mistake and it seems unviable to go another round as, if economies collapse, the result will be worse on the people than the disease.
Debt is being racked up. That has to be repaid at some point.
It's not to say you aren't correct that those that can avert a crisis may not do what is needed and it will only be dealt with after it's all in a pile.
