A couple of things to bear in mind as a retail investor :-
Shorters only fear sudden takeover announcements. Everything else they have a plan for. They can, and do, drag the price down and down again.
Retail investors have to follow the T+2 rules for trading.
Therefore, shorters know to keep the pressure on for two days at least, forcing day traders to sell next day because they do not have the required cash settle their purchase.
Note to retail investors - best not to buy shares in a falling market unless you have the money already available.
