From my experience the taking of a "short" position was for a minimum of $50000 of stock, that being with Macq, CMC etc when I became interested in the trading. Happy to be corrected but it pretty much excludes most retail investors, because also you had to have a substantial cash position in cases things when lemon shaped and you had to cover etc as well as pay the fee for borrowing.....good for gamblers but unless its a "sure thing" the unknown aspect is extremely high. I did think about following the usual suspects on a few stocks when I saw them become sub holders with the same ol same ol....was somewhat hamstrung by having to free up sooo much $$ to take the trade and then time the sell. Anyways some do ok I'm sure and with the help of hindsight both ARI and DSE were a given...even QIN when Glaucaus shot them down. Anyways sleep better at night by not been of the mind set that I will a good company to fail...counter product but the market takes no prisoners when it comes to profits.
MSB has always been a target and some subholders even aided and abedded the shorters.
