I think there is some cross fertilisation going on here.

The 25/9 announcement would relate to the early discussion on the Boston Childrens Hospital trial that is quite small, open label etc and privately funded.

The Phase 2B trial is funded by the US National Institute of Health, has 159 participants, 18 years or older. Not related to the Boston trial other than both are investigating what happens if you inject MPC-150-IM into hearts that have undergone surgery.

Though the NIH trial is also looking to reduce eliminate gastrointestinal bleeding that happens with LVAD recipients, as well as being able to wean patients off the LVAD, and have them not die or need hospitalisation during the trial. The 2b trial follows from a 2a trial that used a lower dose of cells, this current 2b trial is using 6 times the dose of cells, 150 million versus 25 million used in the 2a trial. The NIH seemed to think the results from the 2a were good enough to go on with the 2b trial.

I think if the patients can be weaned off the LVAD for any length of time and there are improvements in circulation/activity or there are no or very few adverse events that bodes rather well for the Mesoblast funded CHF trial, and for earlier partnering.

It is the results for the 2b we are waiting on.
