The coating is long-lasting. “It does not ‘wear’ per se,” Thomas says. “Its lifetime is unknown, but testing [so far] demonstrates usable life beyond 30 years.”
Dyesol and Tata expect their coating to eventually overtake standard solar cell technology. “We’re at the same point where solar cells were four or five years ago, before they received a momentous rise in market acceptance”.
