Trump is a 'tall poppy'. Socialists have a frame-of-mind that detests those who dare to go outside of the group, to challenge the status quo. To a socialist, you have to be a 'team player' and agree with the tribe you belong to in every important way. Challenge the group and you get 'straightened out' real quick. The rest of us admire the independent thinker, and encourage the person who challenges the tribe (or 'the swamp' in politics). I believe this is why the socialist and non-socialist can never agree on much. The disrespect runs deeply on both sides. What I have seen though, often it is younger, less experienced people that tend to be 'social', or the fresh immigrants from poor nations, who want a 'fair go', or a free handout. Later in life, some of the earlier socialists move away from that mindset, once they understand the innate selfishness of all life. Reality doesn't care about a sense of fairness, and your group, in the end, could give a fig about you. I say to the socialists, the Labor or Democrat types, don't live in fear. Trumpy ain't gonna hurt you. Read some interesting history books about how gangs and socialists turn on themselves after cutting down all the tall poppies. Jordan Peterson puts it a bit differently, saying that lefties are artistic, and love to experiment chaotically, while 'righties' like to be orderly and run things efficiently and conscientiously. He then says we need each other for social balance. I tend to believe that.
