Yes Republic were dissappointed not to get Mt Carbine
It is worth noting that the deal was completely different and RAU were purchasing the quarrying business including plant, dozers, road trains plus two mining licenses Mt carbine and land at Shannonvale
The land at Shannonvale if council granted approval and was suddivided would be worth a small fortune in its own right. Shannonvale is an old out of sand - sand mine
I think republic were keen to have the mining licenses. The III deal is a tribute mining agreement but it is nearly impossible to compare the two deals as they are completely different.
Couple of things you may want to note that there are three companies and not just the Nicholson group that cart rock road base etc out of Mt Carbine but in saying that a couple of the tailings pits have lots in them and there is plenty to start processing the tailings pits.
Republic also had lots of information about the old processing tungsten mine and had made contact with managers had worked at mt carbine while it was still operating. I think that had a lot of other information also from BHP or some other company (I think)
Hey I am not a miner but have been to Mt Carbine and from talking with John Kelly about the project reckon there is lots of potential there
When Icon can get something to happen and get the mine going they could be on a winner. I have not heard about much currently happening there and will let you know if I hear anything from the locals
There is also some potential synergy with the Vital tungsten site up the road and the republic West Whumball tungsten find as well - you would think it is unlikey to have three tungsten mines so close but if one was set up and Vital/republic could get there ore processed it may be a great project - not sure if that is a possibility though
