"Cap the marginal rate at the top company rate, that would allow small business to compete with big business"

the only sense that makes is if someone has their own business but, pays personal tax - ie. isn't operating under a Pty Ltd. (ie. they are a sole trader or similar).

So - that is easy - set up a Pty Ltd - and pay company tax.

Any salary drawn is still personal - but, anyone who has such a high income personally without being a Pty Ltd, would be far better off running as a company anyway.

It isn't tax that makes it hard for small business to compete - it's scale.

That largesse as you put it is paying for a lot of small businesses at the moment - and, without it - many of those businesses will be out the back door and a LOT of people will lose jobs and at best have less hours of employment - and, that means that all of that income will be lost for the nation.

Largesse has a cost - that is true - but, it always has some benefits as well - and in this case (part pensions) - that money is spent in making the National economy work much better than without it.

Who shops in the middle of the week?

    Workers? No -------------------- pensioners? Yes.

Who travels out of school holidays? ----------------- Pensioners.

Not hard to put 2 and 2 together here.

    It isn't rocket science.
