The feast - which was prepared by a halal caterer and included a selection of lamb, chicken, salmon for a shared main course - cost $7,300.

Departmental staff were flown to Sydney at the cost of $5,700, while the marquee set back organisers $9,600 and staff were paid out $1,812 for the evening.

Taxpayers even paid $814 for flowers - with a carefully selected bouquet placed at the centre of every dining table.
The feast featured a guest list of 75 people, including AFL player Bachar Houli and author and mechanical engineer Yassmin Abdel-Magied.

In a sermon uploaded to YouTube in 2013 the sheikh, president of the Australian National Imams Council, said gay people were responsible for spreading diseases and attracted 'evil outcomes to our society'.
'Allah will send on them diseases they have never experienced before,' he was recorded saying.
'What's the most common diseases these days, HIV, AIDS, that's so common, and there's no cure to it.'
