I love this time of the year in Quebec. This time 2 years ago I was in the province for the Montreal International Jazz Festival, followed by Just For Laughs, the International Comedy Festival. 6.5 weeks of some of the best non stop entertainment the world has to offer.
Did you know the Jazz Festival is paid for by Rio Tinto? They make so much money from their mining investments in Quebec that they thank the people by putting on a 3 week free music festival in Downtown Montreal. All the best Jazz, Blues, Reggae and Gospel musicians from all over come to play on at least a dozen massive stages set up all over Downtown. There's always something happening on each stage day and night. Must cost Rio Tinto a packet.
Goes to show you how mining friendly and resource rich this province is. A mutually beneficial arrangement.
