Before I take a position in a company, I contact the directors and talk to them (phone or email) for as long as it takes to judge whether I'd let them be the captain of my ship.
I find it useful to imagine you are going on a 10 year holiday and were hiring them to take over in your absence. After all, shareholders do own the company and you are paying management a hefty salary.
However, instead of going on that 10 year holiday and trusting the people they hired, shareholders tend to become nagging in-laws and constantly check in with 'they're doing this wrong'. Directors always have aligned interests with shareholders (in different magnitudes) through performance rights and their own holdings, so if they're doing something you don't agree with doesn't that mean you hired the wrong person?
A lof of complaints involve 'they said x and did y', but this is a manager not a politician; when you select them you are choosing someone you trust to make the right call no matter what gets thrown at them. If your plane's pilot avoids turbulence by redirecting your flight do you start complaining about his ability, or trust he made the right decision?
Personally I happen to think the founders of MTC are particularly clever. I consider the rationale behind their decisions to have always been intuitive and sharp. Obviously no one has to agree but I believe they always do what's best for long term holders (which includes themselves). This is what inspired me to take and continue to increase my position in MTC all the way from last year.
I'll let you know at the end of my 10 year holiday what I think of what they did with my money.
