Historically, if you look at who made all the money out of new metallurgical processes, short and medium term it is the developers.
The Hall-Héroult process which revolutionised aluminimum production enabled Charles Hall to gain financial backers and form what is now Alcoa.
Henry Bessemer, who invented the Bessemer process for steel production made $150m(inflation adjusted) pounds in royalties over the course of his life. The process enabled the UK steel industry, for a period, to be world leading. With better commercial terms Bessemer likely could have made a lot more.
Investors need to see the long game here. Pilot plant built, commercial agreements, then see where the price ends up.
