    I supply metcash stores. My business (FMCG) has taken the approach of validating / building our offer at ground level...in metcash we now have a multi million dollar turnover business. It's taken half a decade, we are well known, our unit turnover is visible in scan data and we have WOW & WES knocking on our door every 3 months. we say no, not yet. we want to migrate to metcash warehouse with a known brand, highly loyal, validated volumes and not in chains. you'd think it was a slam dunk....nope, there's always a carpet stroller in HO that knows better.

    the real power is in the stores not at HQ. If you are looking for an innovative, consumer led solution from HO....don't hold your breath. There's a hundred growth stories like this out there, they aren't hard to find...you can see it in shoppers baskets, in the scan data and funnily enough on the shelves. Try strolling an aisle and not the HO carpet.

    as they say, most of your easy growth will come from those you are already trading with, you just have to be alert (and interested) and ask the right questions.
