There are alternatives to reinjection of methane into the gas condensate reservoirs, such as Nitrogen or CO2 injection, and that would help achieve revenue from methane sales gas. Having access to cheap nitrogen is important, which may necessitate manufacture within close proximity to the field. Examples of nitrogen injection can be found in the Middle East, e.g. large gas condensate reservoirs of the United Arab Emirates.

If methane is injected for recycling in the gas condensate reservoirs, the operation usually prioritizes the richest gas condensate layers and the oil layers, leaving the low yield gas condensate reservoirs to produce under depletion, thereby providing an opportunity for gas sales.

If there is no easily accessible water supply, the light oil reservoirs should benefit from the injection of enriched gas and/or CO2 injection.
