    Pity its not designed for crude. Shows there is money in Uganda and there will be money for a refinery for hardmans oil as well

    Another multi-billion oil firm starts operations in Uganda

    A multi billion oil refinery plant has began operations in Uganda with huge macro economic expectations in employment and foreign exchange sectors for the country.

    Muddu Oil Refinery that began crude oil refining into edible oils and detergents two months ago is found in Kyungu village, Mukono town council in Mukono district. The plant is currently worth Ugsh12billion but is still expanding and will reach close to 20 billion shillings upon completion of every section of the factory. It occupies a 15acrega piece of land.

    Godrefy Ssentongo 37, the proprietor of the oil firm is a business man who hails from Masaka district. The plant currently manufactures 50tones of refined edible oils daily from palm oil which is imported from Malaysia.

    The firm has a staff of 50 employees consisting of both local and foreign nationals. Its product's market is presently within Uganda but prospects from expanding to encompass the regional markets are a high future priority for the firm.

    Srinivasulu E. the Muddu Oil Refinery production manager said, 'we are going to start a jericcan manufacturing wing for packaging our product. We are also undertaking comprehensive studies to start out grower farmers' schemes for sunflower and Soya bean from which we will make edible oils and other by products."

    Tom Wabwire the sales and marketing manager of the firm expressed happiness that the people who consume their products have appreciated their high standards.

    'This is even more encouraging for us as an infant industry and we will work day and night to ensure that we satisfy their demands," he said.

    The Vice President Prof. Gilbert Bukenya who visited the firm yesterday (Friday) paid glowing tribute to Ssentongo's business acumen and contribution to the national economy by availing jobs to Ugandans as well as being a reservoir of future taxes for government.

    'Government will support such business people whether they are local or foreign nationals given their immerse contribution and infrastructure development," Prof. Bukenya said. ..End.
