From my point of view assimilation per se is a good thing. But government policies of assimilation by law and by social engineering impinge on individual rights to the extent that I'm in total opposition.
I want all Australians to have complete freedom to form or maintain whatever cultures they want providing they don't break the law. Free from any form of government assisted pressure to do otherwise.
You will recall that the stolen generation was an horrific government mandated mass tragedy based on our governments' assimilation policy.
