The thing about a lot of the people who say open boarders an more refugees are often upper/middle class what I'd term the "white guilt brigade" feel guilty about "white history" and there priviliged upbringing.

Now they usually live in the well to do suburbs and don't have to come face to face with the refugees coming in - who usually populate the poorer/working class areas. So it's the poor/working class people who have to go face to face with the fight for limited resources and cultural clashes.

I consider myself reasonably tolerant but I travel a lot around Sydney and I can tell you in a lot of suburbs as a "white Australian" you are not made to feel welcome, the negative attitude towards is quite open and in your face at times. I'm sure some of these new arrivals would argue they cop some of the same thing, it is not a black and white issue (you're even racist or not). I see nothing wrong with wanting to control and manage the new arrivals into our country.
