I don't think some people have quite got a grasp on just how serious is the future threat facing the Telstra business.

Sure - they've got the Local Loop all stitched up. Trouble is, its abundantly clear that it may not be needed much longer as volume of calls transfers from the copper system to mobile phones and voIP.

TLS desperately need to be able to get away from being the sucker funding the wholesale infrastructure whilst the smaller more nimble players ride the new technology clean over the top of TLS and the ACCC destroys their wholesale margins in the meantime.

Sol and the Board are well aware that they are riding the Telecommunications equivalent of the Titanic. It all looks nice and rosy right now but ..........

Do you seriously think they are backing this fight with the government for the sake of trashing their careers alone ?

I'm sure Sol - and his Chairman - can both think of more enjoyable things to be doing than being national telecommunications pariahs. I for one think they are fighting a battle for the survival of TLS as the largest carrier in the next decade.

Re the shareprice, well, maybe its about time someone actually called things as they actually are. It will still be a buy at some stage. More so if they are successful.
