Yep, while I don't know the situation in other states, in Victoria owning a rental property is just not worthwhile, hideous laws around paying for routine inspections of gas and electrical that no private home owner would EVER get done, ever increasing land tax and council rates(hidden these days as levies), VCAT failure to protect landlords from rogue tenants etc etc etc, many landlords are losing ~30% of their rental income to costs before interest, maintenance and cleaning up after tenants
The stupid part of it all is it's going to be renters who suffer, the same people the Andrews govt claims to be protecting
