    Yes but as I posted when I started this thread some of this water being cut from allocations is simply not there much of the time anyway so nothing is really being cut. It's only in wet years that farmers there can take their full allocation and trying to do so in dry years is destroying the river system.

    I would rather see cuts made now so that those with water allocations can actually recieve the water they are allocated and a little is left over to flow down the rivers and keep them alive. I think that is what is intended but we will need to see how this issue develops.

    Politically I think all parties except the National Party want some rationalisation of water use and probably the Independants support this principle too.
