I'd suggest cost plays a large role in terms of what people consider "reasonable"? However there's also the aspect of what will be considered reasonable sound in future. The size of tv's over the years is a good analogy for that, i.e. what's considered a reasonable size today vs 20 years ago.
Consumers will get excellent quality of sound in their devices by default from a single AKP speaker, unless the phone manufacturers implement it poorly of course. However I can't see phones being used much differently in future (perhaps more like a portable speaker?), so for me the biggest benefit of AKP tech will be scenarios where I'm currently listening to music or watching movies via better than average audiovisual gear. AKP's tech will make audiophile quality sound very affordable. But yeh maybe I'm in the minority.
