ElonMusk, CEO of SpaceX, purchased 1255 FDA-approved ResMed, Philips &Medtronic ventilators from China and donated them to the state ofCalifornia to treat those suffering severe symptoms of the COVID-19 virus.
Australia currently has 2,300 ventilators in intensive careunits across the hospital system, has surge capacity for another 5,000 and isseeking to dramatically boost stocks.
An order for 1,000 new invasive ventilators – which place tubesdown the trachea – is already in with Melbourne company ResMed, whileMedtronic, Philips, GE and ResMed are also helping to produce non-invasiveventilators.
ResMedis working directly with hospitals around the worldwho want topurchase its equipment, as well as federal and state governments and citiesto gauge demand.
Headded that the company was on track to meet its aggressive production increasegoals within weeks.
