You know, what I thought AF was really pushing was to use hydrogen derived energy to fire steel and nickel mills and electricity generation plants rather than coal. That was where he was getting to create the reduction of 2M T of greenhouse gases.
His aim is to eliminate coal out of every equation.
If you eliminate coal from the equation for producing steel, nickel and electricity etc and replace that with hydrogen power (or other renewables like wind or solar etc) then you can still have nickel battery powered cars running on batteries charged off a grid that is fed by either solar, wind, or hydrogen power.
if AF can take coal out of the equation (where he has little or no interests financially) and replace it with renewables (where he is positioning himself) he will end up winning a much larger piece of the value chain.
AF can also see how Australia can lead the development of this and create new massive industries domestically, powered either directly or indirectly by hydrogen. And I don’t mean building hydrogen powered cars.
I think this is his real strategy and the direction towards his end game.
