    Musket buoys Avoca’s hopes

THE first of three diamond drill holes at Avoca Resources’ Musket Prospect has returned assay results of almost 11 grams per tonne of gold.

Describing the numbers as “highly encouraging”, Avoca delivered assay results of 18 metres at 10.9gpt gold from 68m from its Musket Prospect, some 40 kilometres south east of the Trident resource at the company’s Higginsville gold project in Western Australia’s Goldfields region.

Coming off the back of the Wills discovery, announced in mid-2007, Avoca said the Musket drill results could represent the company’s second discovery outside the main Higginsville gold camp.

Avoca said that Musket revealed “abundant visible gold” over several sections while the mineralisation remained open at depth.

The company is awaiting the results of the two other diamond drill holes and plans to continue further drilling to prove up sufficient resources to develop an open pit mine capable of providing additional feed to its new Higginsville treatment plant. The one million tonne per annum plant is due to be commissioned in June.

Avoca shares were unchanged at $2.24 a share.
