Directly addressing the issues that appear to concern human beings in general, whether their concerns are warranted or not, the MATERIALISTIC acheivements of the Golden Age of Islamic Civilisation do not negate or excuse an imperialistic and fundamentalist agenda that exists in their holy book.
For example, Islam build many of the wonders of India, such as the Taj Mahal. Yet, at the same time, the same Islamic invaders destroyed many of the Buddhist monastaries & universities that existed in India at that time.
In fact, whilst Buddhism was declining in India anyway, due to its assimilation by Hinduism, the invading Muslims finished it off.
Christianity, whilst not having the example of Jesus leading them into military battle, like Mohamed lead the Muslims into battle, also has an inherent imperialistic and fundamentalist agenda.
Whenever a religion holds "there is only our way", regardless of its worldly acheivements, it will be problematic.
The Roman Empire acheived great things for "civilisation", despite its violence & pillaging.
