Killing people to erradicate Bad Ideas has never worked. Killing gays to eliminate gays hasn't worked either.
However, shielding groups behind Political Correctness is a problem, I agree. The problem with PC is that is suppresses Free Speech. The solution to both problems is defence of Free Speech. Free Speech brings homophobes into the open and Free Speech condemns and socially isolates homophobes.
Any person who takes actions beyond speech is, of course, subject to lawful suppression.
