what Aussies don't seem to grasp at all is that the immigration/refugee levels they see atm ------------- are in all likelihood -
nothing
just a splash in the ocean to what is coming in the future
the writing is on the wall unless the world is extraordinarily lucky to avoid two things -
- massive climate change refugee movement
- massive refugee movement and immigration due to war
there is already strong evidence of immigration and refugee movement to Australia from war -----
WW2 - the massive immigration waves post war
and the refugee and immigration that we are seeing atm - these refugees are mostly from war
Australia MUST be involved in international treaties - which bind it to taking certain numbers of refugees - and when there are hundreds of millions - the number that will head to Oz will be eyewatering
for those who say - oh, Oz can just get out of the treaties - well, lotsa luck with that one - Oz is so incredibly dependent on trade and sanctions - HURT a nation which is so dependent - Oz will not be jumping ship on treaties.
As to climate change - well, there's not a lot of evidence there - but, watch out if mass migration comes to pass with climate - Oz could be right up top of the queue for much of the global population
IMO - we ain't seen nuttin yet in immigration numbers.
