5x watso. dawn to sunrise, noon to mid afternoon, mid afternoon to sunset, sunset and evening till dawn are the prescribed times. The obligatory prayer only takes 3-5 min. and can be prayed within the prescribed times. It doesn't mean you have to pray for the whole period. Also all you need is a space literally 1x1m and if that was not available the prayer can even be adjusted for the circumstance i.e. injury, standing room or sitting in a bus. The times really do not clash. You also have ability to combine prayers when travelling or other circumstances. Most jobs will enable 2-3 min. break. ( Lunch breaks, tea breaks etc can be utilised without difficulty.)
I am a physio and all my siblings are professionals/entrepreneurs and they manage to find the time. My brother-in-law is a surgeon and he manages it no worries. I go to the footy with my bro and we duck out and pray especially in the afternoon games.
The rooms at the footy are always provided, not officially as if you ask they will let you use it. MCG has had one for ages and etihad had introduced. It is a normal office room allocated for prayer on the day.
"apologies to those muslims who do manage to hold down a job, and pray 5 times per day, in work environments where there are no prayer rooms"
No need to apologise watso. Prayer is no reason to not hold a job down. if they use it as a reason, they are just lazy dole bludgers - most bosses will understand as breaks are normally allocated at workplaces. Earning and providing for the family is a religious obligation.
