Do not compare Australia to the US, that is a flawed statement in so many dimensions.

Basically, Australians, Europeans, and Canadians have populations that have the decency to shun guns, and a political will to outlaw them.

Never EVER tell an American why guns are bad. You will probably get shot. Not sure if you've been to the States (I go there for work from Canada), but many, many Americans believe gun ownership is their divine right. It is so deeply embedded in the national psyche that it will never ever change. It is the American way. I've been to homes of American colleagues who have arsenals in their basement - many do it for fun, to express their rights as an American citizen, and as a protective mechanism in case, the government becomes some type of authoritarian regime.

The US can't lift its vaccination rate because they know if they push too hard the gun-wielding psychos will take over the country for reals.
