I've seen this before, it's been floating around since 2012. From what I understand, this was a group of Salafists in Benghazi who desecrated not only British War Hero graves, but also Muslim graves as well. Apparently it was because they believe that people who pray at grave stones or sites is a form of idolatry, which they are opposed to. As such it was not directed to any one faith or people, but more about enforcing their own beliefs on worship - still wrong, but not the smoking gun you hoped for.
