Rappa, you keep hammering on costs to keep them locked up. I suggest you are extremely short-sighted.

If you release them into mainland Australia, our costs will be far higher than now. with the boat arrivals of newcomers. You have any idea how many legal refugees we accept (who arrive legally)? This mob is insignificant but as Taurist says, we need to send a message to the world.

Besides, they are free to return to their home country, Cambodia or settle where they are right now.

It would save a fortune and there would be less mental issues, suicide and vandalism of the buildings.

It would tell the world Aussies are not narrow minded and mean spirited like many HC posters.

You assume because they are on the mainland they will stay--we can apply the same criteria for assessment as on the offshore facility.

Include an international airport as well to send those who are not genuine home!
