    3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

    So your denomination teaches you that you must 'work' your way into Heaven.
    -------------------
    Instead of of what various denominations teach it is best to examine what the scriptures teach. Abraham is not among those of the ''heavenly calling''. Paul addressed his letters to those that were, however, it is a mistake to automatically assume what he wrote applies to anyone that reads his letters.
    (Hebrews 3:1) Consequently, holy brothers, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the apostle and high priest whom we acknowledge—Jesus.

    Paul commends the faith of those that lived and died ahead of his day, including Abraham.
    (Hebrews 11:17) By faith Abraham, when he was tested, as good as offered up Isaac—the man who had gladly received the promises attempted to offer up his only-begotten son—

    He then went on to point out none of the men and women of faith mentioned, although in line for a reward, are not in line for the ''something better'' that was promised those of the ''heavenly calling''.

    (Hebrews 11:39, 40) And yet all of these, although they received a favorable witness because of their faith, did not obtain the fulfillment of the promise,  because God had foreseen something better for us, so that they might not be made perfect apart from us.

    Jesus was the first human to receive a resurrection to life in heaven.
    (Colossians 1:18) and he is the head of the body, the congregation. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might become the one who is first in all things;

    He gathered others that would rule with him in heaven. These included his apostles as well as those that Jehovah called for that role. Our hope is life here on earth where the men and women of faith that died prior to the time the ''heavenly calling'' went out, will be resurrected to.
