On the hacking issue I think people get confused between an online hacking such as an exchange being hacked and Bitcoin being hacked . Starting with Mount Gox there have been many exchange type hackings, I regard these as the modern equivalent of racing into a bank with a double barrelled shotgun emptying the tellers cash drawers and running out again .Hacking Bitcoin itself however is more like but not exactly the same as defacing a currency and if you are really good at it perhaps forging. No one has succeded in doing this because the Bitcoin code requires a Quantum computer to unlock it and they have not been invented yet. When they are invented the developers will no doubt upgrade the code to Quantum level which would stop it being hacked at that level.
