I think the latest deal, on face value, is very good. To me there are three significant components to the Motopia model. 1) Business to business... the deal with the banks and Berkshire Hathaways company. I see this as the bread and butter revenue for the company - sort of receive data, disseminate data and charge for the service. 2) The mobi apps.. This is all the games, wallpapers, etc that are a growing (rapidly) part of the youth culture - as per the deal with Real Madrid, Ronaldo via Mconnect. 3). Advertising. I see this as the biggest revenue generator in the future. The traditional advertising medium (TV, Radio and Print) will always be here - but the adspend on each of these is being reduced dramatically to make way for x media...i.e; Internet and mobile. As most mobile these days are internet friendly - guess what??... you are going to see more and more advertising through mobiles. Product placement in mobisodes (think of the traditional soaps - "days of our lives" etc.) - and then translate that to episodic content available for web and mobile... Coke, Pepsi vying to have their product featured in the latest hot youth program/show for example - or alternatively develop and produce the content themselves for distribution through Motopia!!! Think of what BMW did when they produced the 5 short films featuring Clive Owen and directed by the "top 5" directors in the world - all for web and mobile based delivery. Then think of the new shift in computing - which is cloud computing. You will soon be able to do away with your clunky desktop computer and perform pretty much everything you do on that on your mobile phone or Ipad.... Believe me - I don't think we've seen anything yet in where this technology can go in the next 5 - 10 years... damn exciting isn't it???
What I would like to see them do now is gather up a couple more content developers for overseas - the US and Europe... and let's not forget China!!!
Sorry this is so long.
Cheers,
Jmcgoo
