I suppose I follow some rules but tend to not consciously adhere to that type of process ..... I sometimes explain to my friends that it needs to be intuitive which is why I sometimes go down to South Bondi and just study the best surfers. This is my inspiration ... reading the mood of the surf, how and why they pick a wave (ie .. the actual medium), at what point they take it and exit it, their control and feel of the situation, knowing when to take risks and when not be wiped so they can do it all again. I pay particular notice of their exit technique.
