The longer the FIRB take the more likely the Chinalco deal will be hit on the head, RIO have already hinted of a $11 billion dollar capital raising to pay down their debt that's due in Oct/Nov this year.
Maybe they can conduct a JV and put the project on hold for a year or so, until they pay back their debt requirements.
