I have run a SMSF over the last few years but I confess did not really have a plan apart from capital preservation post GFC.
Now I realise that I dont really have the bottle for managing what is (for me) more money than I am used to playing with. Consequently I have not done very well and the fund performance is well under what industry funds got for 12/13. In fact it is more or less the interest earned on the cash sitting in the bank. I feel like a rabbit in a spotlight.
Sure. I could wind up the whole thing and move to an industry fund but I really dont want to change the insurance arrangements that smsf fund has.
I need a plan, a guardian angel advisor, something to stick to and just do. For example the Huntley Income portfolio on Morningstar looks like a good (or at least) better plan. Just do what they do.
I would be really interested any comments or experiences that anyone might care to share.
