I urge you to have a go, you will more than likely surprise yourself with what you can do....you will never know, unless you have a go I have been finishing some art work, that was started over 25 years ago, it was put aside for lack of time
I am practising the transulecent affects, and was reminded of how slow the process is with the oil paints....some takes months to dry, before I can put on another coat...
I mainly work with acrylic these days, it dries so quickly.
If you have a Reject shop in your area, they have very cheap canvas boards, 12 x 16" with 2 for $4 plus larger ones at affordable prices, use these to practice on...you can buy the acrylic paints, large tubes for similar prices at Kmart, just buy the 5 primary colours, you then use these to make all the other colours you need.
Then use your imagination and practise....practice makes perfect...
I did a abstract thingy last week, I was experimenting with translucent colours, and light and shade affect....
I really stuffed it initially, then recovered the original idea, it looks stunning from a distance, and it will be one of my favourite pieces. I believe anyone who has an interest in creating art, must have sufficient creativity, and natural talent to go on to become an artist. cheers
