Ivermectin has been used for over a decade in Africa in public health campaigns against viruses and tropical diseases.
The Science Direct article in the above link postulates that Ivermectin may be having a prophylactic effect against Covid.
It compares the incidence of Covid in countries with mass health campaigns using Ivermectin versus countries without such a campaign.
This is observational research, but the evidence is building.
