If you have not sold you have not lost, unless the stocks have gone bankrupt. The value of your stocks have fallen. It gets really scarey when that happens. If the fundamentals of your stocks are OK they will turn around when market sentiment changes.

It might be best to take some time off from following stocks and go smell the flowers until you can put some distance between the event and yourself. Then come back to it.
