    If you can grow your own veggies and run a few chooks it will help.

    Beans and lentils go a long way and are a great protein especially when potatoes or carrots are also involved.

    Waste is a no no so it's important to turn your left overs into new meals such as bubble and squeek or some cheeky soup or stew

    Buying bulk and learning to preserve food can also help

    I bake most bread and biscuits and this can turn out relatively cheap if you buy bulk flour - it's fairly easy and economical to make your own pasta as well
