I dont blame people for reading religion hotstocks. People find it really hard to accept "eternal nothingness", that is, when you die, nothing happens to you, all your thoughts will be gone, there is no soul. Just like before you were born, same will happen after you die.
Its even worse when someone close to you dies, and they are totally gone, we want them to be in a better place. That is why religion is so appealing to humans for a long time. Just because we want something, doesn't change the facts.
