Just because we want something, doesn't change the facts.
Precisely so why bother with something we cannot change - far better to do something to better ourselves in areas where we do have control rater than dreaming.
I have nothing against reading so long as the reader rationally places the story and does not become "hooked" on it thereby excluding all else.
I personally have no idea where we came from for certain but I am reasonably confident it was not anything like religious books would have us believe. Scientific progress is certainly pointing to this.
Just not worth the time to worry about this stuff imo.
