Current scientific theory tells us that the Big Bang occurred approximately 13.7 billion years ago. Some of the associated energy transformed into heat and light (a key early "player"), some of which transformed into sub-atomic particles (Einstein's e=mc^2 states the equivalence of energy and mass) and subsequently matter. Stars and planets formed and on at least one planet life emerged. This life has "evolved" and sentient beings have ultimately emerged that are able to become "conscious" to some degree of this amazing phenomenon.
The laws of physics and the key parameters (the strength of forces, the weight of subatomic particles....) which have guided this process over 13.7 billion years are the information content of a "field" which has an energy content and is "conscious". We are packets of energy and information (consciousness) which are alive as thought within a larger "field" of energy and information which is "alive". Quantum theory tells us that at the most fundamental level all is packets (quanta) of energy and information vibrating at differnt frequencies.
This conscious "field" is the substructure of the universe. It is the "creator" and it has guided the "evolution" of the universe such that conscious beings would emerge. With our consciousness we can tune in/connect with this "field" - essentially this is what people do when they pray. Scientists use the "language" of the "Book of Life", mathematics, to decipher to some degree the subtext/code of the universe.
One big cosmic show and the "evolution" of the cosmos is following the script and we're blessed to be able to comprehend and partake to some degree.
