Let me rephrase it for you two:

Unfortunately they got outsmarted by Sharon.

Meaning:
Two older lawyers (and supposedly age equals wisdom and experience) got outsmarted by a much younger female MD.

Also, if you look at the ratio of male to female CEO's, MD's and Board level members woman are very scarce in this industry so to be outsmarted by a woman says something about the woman in charge of LCY.

Your guys were probably thinking about their retirement when they were signing that earn-in agreement. LOL
