i would echo these comments that the reliability is one of their competitive advantages. I can share my personal experience as a customer. prior to the NBN i had various ISPs and whilst on (and paying for) a 100MBPS cable plan i received various speeds and suffered from heavy congestion alot of the time. so much so i later downgraded my plan to 30MPBS for a much cheaper cost with my ISP at the time (optus) admitting i should have done it sooner since i was not receiving more than 30MBPS the vast majority of the time and was essentially being ripped off blind for months.
fast forward to NBN installation and i did my homework this time round. what sold me on aussie BB aside from its reputation and reviews prior to me signing up was access to the CVC graphs and working out where my nearest POI point of interconnect was. once i did this as all customers would know i was able to access the CVC graph to determine the CVC limit at my POI as well as the uploads and downloads from the previous day and the capacity left in the CVC limit. Once i learned about ABBs commitment to ensure the CVC limit was not breached through various measures i was sold and to this day a couple of years on i have remained a satisfied customers, Ive always got the speed that i have paid for and whats more for the minimal times where scheduled downtime has occurred i was notified well in advance and given extra periods of expected downtime. Again, in rare periods of other downtime ABB has communicated to me via email (which I can read on my smart phone) indicating what the issues is and when service was restored.
Unfortunately I haven't been allocated under the IPO however i am thinking about entry price, this will be a long term hold for me and IMO best time is now because worst case scenario years down the track once they reach their upper limits of what customers they will onboard for various products the growth from their may be limited (ala Telstra scenario) defensive stock and dividend play not growth. so now best time as any to get on board.
