Yes Lovesilver, what are you hinting at? And REALISTICALLY will this technology be commercially available? Probably not anytime soon.
The cost numbers with BlueGen shouldn't be considered from a mere Household cost perspective. The real value proposition is gained by the Energy Utility in the "retail" rate they charge the customer for a "package" Vs natural gas cost to run the BlueGen / mCHP unit.
There is a growing differential between the above operating cost (very low) and the Retail kW/hr us retail customers are paying.
Please consider the BILLIONS of dollars it costs to build a brand new Coal-fired Power Station, then consider the economies-of-scale achieved by having 100,000 Fuel Cells installed & running in 100,000 Homes.
The value proposition is gained by the Energy Utility and the cost savings shared between itself & the customer.
Once again: "ECONOMIES OF SCALE IN ENERGY EFFICIENCY" - this is the true value proposition.
The added benefits are: a more flexible electricity Grid, a more diverse energy supply (more secure) and a more efficient electricity grid.
This technology will not disappear into the ether.
