Do you have any evidence that shows giving a discount "without been positively accretive to the bottom line" does not result in the same outcome (ie. share price drifting downwards) ?
If not, then I think the critical metric is having positive fundamentals that make the CR counter party be able to justify their premium rather than out to get an instant return on the discount.
